Directed by local filmmaker Travis Nicholson and featuring comedian/Cream columnist Chris Crofton, Pony Boy's video for "Metal Dreams" is a slow-moving Los Angeles dreamscape, full of seedy, noirish characters. Also worth a watch is "When Tomorrow Never Comes" — Pony Boy's Marchelle Bradanini has a flair for visually arresting imagery.

I worship at the altar of Tom Waits and especially the song, Christmas Card From A Hooker In Minneapolis. Wrote a little piece on it over at MUSIC DEFINED

"In a cynical world where music is mostly used for shilling plastic headphones and laundry detergent, “Christmas Card From A Hooker In Minneapolis” operates on the level of the truly profound. With a knowing and wounded wink, the song brings dignity to the undignified and connects to the humanity in all of us. And that is all that matters in the end."

PONY BOY REVEALS NEW SINGLE “MARQUEE MAN” TODAY EXCLUSIVELY VIA CMJ

August 17, 2015  /  Pony Boy

Today Pony Boy reveals “Marquee Man” via CMJ. The first single off her debut album Blue Gold (out 8/28 via Nashville imprint Cosmic Thug)  “Marquee Man” is a smoky and seductive satire about an actor with an ego that is so inflated; he’s a legend in his own mind. Combining her signature sultry vocals with subversive feminist lyrics, the bluesy  lead single is one of many gems to be found on the upcoming album.

“It’s about the hubris of a man who sees himself, undoubtedly as a Marquee Man –  above that of even Brando or Sinatra. He has blind ambition and confidence in his  looks and aptitude,” explains Pony Boy (real name Marchelle Bradanini) of the song.

Blue Gold inhabits a dream state between art rock and alt-country,  swaying between  hope and lament, her velvety voice punctuated with sharp edges.  A sense of flight and modern nomadism is manifested throughout Blue Gold  including the ambling, guitar-kissed “Metal Dreams” which was the first taste  revealed from the album and premiered via Black Book.  “The record is looking at California in the rear view mirror,” explains the artist, who  now splits time between Nashville and England.

Blue Gold follows the release of Pony Boy’s breakout 2014 EP The Devil In Me.  Watch/Share the video for “Metal Dreams” – directed by actor-filmmaker Travis  Nicholson and co-starring comedian Chris Crofton – HERE
